Abstract

This article discusses the formative aspect of the curriculum based on the reflection of the Frankfurt School Critical Theory. This analysis gains relevance in the current context where recurring curriculum reforms show the lack of permanence and continuity of culture in their proposals. The text is structured in three moments. First, it discusses the concept of formation in the Critical Theory and its relation with the culture. Next, it approaches the predominance of the adaptive dimension of culture and its implications to the curriculum in the present time. Finally, it presents the universality principle as a possible guiding axle of the formative perspective of the curriculum.
