O intelectual educacional e o professor críticos: o pastorado das consciências (Educational intelectual and critical teacher: the pastoral care of consciousness)

Abstract

This article, using Foucault's research on ethics and the modes of subjectivation of the modern western subject, describes the "regime of the self" proposed to critical teachers and the mechanics of the pedagogical technology instituted by some critical pedagogical discourse in the teacher's training courses and curriculum in Brazil. From this perspective, this article claims that the critical pedagogical discourses in Brazil have been positioning critical teaching as a pastoral care of the "good consciousness" and of the activist actions that lead to enlightenment, humanization, and salvation, instituting an ascetic moral and profound political convictions to teachers.
